If you are currently in the UK on a Tier 1 (Investor) Visa you can apply to extend your stay by applying for a Tier 1 (Investor) Visa extension so long as you can demonstrate that you have invested at least £750,000 within the first three months of living in the UK. If granted an extension, this will be for another two years, however, you are required to continue investing in an active UK business. You must make your application before your current visa expires.

What are the eligibility requirements to extend my Tier 1 (Investor) Visa?

If your Tier 1 Investor Visa was granted before the 6th November 2014, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Have access to at least £1,000,000 under your control in the UK
  • Have invested at least £750,000 (or 75%) of that in UK government bonds, share capital or loan capital in active UK companies
  • This sum must have been invested within three months of your investor start date

If you were granted your Tier 1 Investor Visa after 6th November 2014, you can extend your visa if you meet the following requirements:

  • Have access to at least £2,000,000 under your control in the UK
  • Have invested those funds in UK government bonds, share capital or loan capital in active UK companies
  • This sum must have been invested within three months of your investor start date

How long does it take to receive a decision?

You generally get your visa within 8 weeks if you apply by post or online, however, the super-premium service will allow you to get your visa on the same day.

If there are any complications or the Home Office require further information this will take longer.

You must remember to submit your application before your current visa expires. Once you have submitted your application you can stay in the UK until you receive a decision.
