Naturalisation is the process of becoming a citizen of another country. Applying for British Naturalisation in the UK will mean you can live and work anywhere in the UK free from immigration controls. If you are British by descent, you may be able to simply register for British Naturalisation UK, but otherwise, you need to apply for British Naturalisation.

If you are a foreign national who has resided in the UK for five years or more and you have held Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) for a minimum of one year, you can apply for naturalisation as a British Citizen. You can also apply if you are married to a British Citizen, provided you have lived for a minimum of three years in the UK and hold Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).
